Help your class create collective poetry following a simple, engaging model from Teaching Tolerance (tolerance.org). Each young poet writes five things on an index card: sayings from others, favorite sound, favorite place, favorite color, and favorite thing to do. Each person chooses one of their lines to read until all have read everything on their cards. Then discuss rhythm, patterns, collective creativity, and the choral/sonic elements of spoken poetry. Great for community building!
