Learners examine the need for a national library. In this Library of Congress activity, students analyze primary sources to investigate the persuasive techniques that Thomas Jefferson used in a letter meant to show his support of the establishment of a national library. Learners write their own persuasive letters arguing that Congress should purchase selected books.
