Around 1877, there was a rise in segregation and obstacles were imposed to keep African Americans from voting. Bishop B.W. Arnett spoke out against these laws in a pamphlet entitled "The Black Laws". Read the entire pamphlet or select certain excerpts. An audio excerpt is also provided.
