Louis Riel

Curated by ACT

Louis Riel led the Metis people in Manitoba in the Red River Rebellion, and later, the Metis in Saskatchewan in the Northwest Rebellion. Seen as both a hero and a traitor, he was eventually executed. This short summary of his life is one in a series of biographical sketches of important Canadian historical figures for students aged 9-13.
