Students read and retell stories and fables from Africa to determine how the actions of the characters teach lessons about how to act and how not to act. Students learn about various character traits and their antonyms while keeping track of academic vocabulary throughout the unit. Due to the repetition and rhyme of some of the texts, students work to engage with the reading of the texts while learning about the animals of the African savanna and how they interact.
