There's no substitute for the power of the sun. The second of four installments of the Solar Resources Assessment unit looks at macro-scale photovoltaic (PV) technology. Future scientists first learn about PV modules with a PowerPoint presentation. They then connect PV modules in both series and parallel circuits and determine the voltage, current, and power using a multimeter.

Instructional Ideas
- Have learners create a graphic organizer comparing the voltage, current, and power for solar modules in series and parallel circuits
Classroom Considerations
- Activity requires solar modules and multimeters
- Knowledge of series and parallel circuits is necessary
Pros
- Provides worksheets for each part of the lesson
- Includes a student reference sheet that shows how to set up the circuits
Cons
- None
