He tried tomake peace between the white settlers and the threatened aboriginal peoples.A tall granite monument of Chief Peguis was erected in Kildonan Park in Winnipeg where he had often visited the early settlers, bearing his gifts of buffalo meat and his loyalty. A photo of the monument is included.
