Pupils are exposed to a variety of poems, know elements of poetry, analyze poems, and make decisions by voting. They also share their own thoughts and opinions and listen to and respect the thoughts of their classmates as well. 64 poems are used, just like for the NCAA tournament. Two poems are read and the kids vote to see which one is the winner. As a class, a discussion occurs as to what made one more of a winner than the other poems.
