Fourth and fifth graders define the term media literacy, then come up with examples that they share with the class. The types of media studied are auditory, visual, and written. Learners get together in pairs and perform a media scavenger hunt. They search the Internet and library sources to find the examples they want to share. The worksheet that goes along with this exercise is filled out by the kids, and it has them list the author, the format, the audience it's intended for, the content, and the purpose of the message.
