This Midpoints of the Sides of a Paralellogram activity also includes:

This task asks learners to prove that the segment joining the midpoints of two sides of a parallelogram is both congruent and parallel to an adjacent side of the parallelogram. The activity would be good to use in a discussion about how drawing an auxiliary line in the given diagram is sometimes necessary when doing proofs. The exercise would also make a good assessment item. Teachers should note that the provided solution uses symbols for congruent segments and equal measures of segments interchangeably. This reviewer suggests that those be corrected if you intend to distribute a copy to students.
