Curated by ACT

The range of the Lodgepole Chipmunk follows the high Sierra Nevada, and continues along the tops of the San Bernardino and San Jacinto mountains near Los Angeles. Most of the time the Lodgepole Chipmunks forage on the ground, climbing on rocks and running along logs to find seeds, fungi, flowers, fruits, and insects. Learn more about the Tamias speciosus, more commonly known as a Lodgepole Chipmunk, in this easy-to-read species overview by the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.
