Use this applet to demonstrate the spread of a forest fire. The applet takes into consideration the probability that a tree adjacent to a burning tree will catch fire, and it shows how much of a sample forest will burn. Repeat the fire for different probabilities and try to discover how the number of remaining trees is related to the original probability.
