This Nutrition, Hydration, and Health lesson plan also includes:

NFL football in science class? Yes, please! In an engaging and motivating three-day activity, kids take a look at their own nutritional habits and needs compared to those of an NFL player, then experiment with the effects of hydration on cells using eggs. The final project has your future nutritionists designing and creating a snack fit for a Saint (or a Seahawk or a Steeler). If the majority of your kids are more into soccer, basketball, or hockey, adjust the assignment as needed. It may be an interesting comparison to see how the nutritional needs vary for athletes in different sports (baseball or golf compared to football, for example). Note: the link in the activity to NFL video is no longer active; please see the link under Additional Materials.
