In this lesson, students investigate the moral, economic and ecological impacts of the extinction of various animal species. Students first assess how and why people support and refute actions that lead to the extinction of animals. They then examine how the wild tiger population has grown from near-extinction due to conservation efforts. Finally, after research on a specific animal currently near extinction, students defend the protection of that endangered species though a persuasive speech.
