Oklahoma Historical Society: Choctaw

A summary of Choctaw history from 1820 when they ceded much of their land, through to the beginning of the 21st century. It oulines the many changes they went through, the treaties they signed, their support of the Confederate side during the Civil War, and the impact this had on them after the war, the policy of Indian assimilation, the rise of Indian activism, and their eventual success at revitalizing their tribe.
