Open Stax: Elasticity: Stress and Strain

Curated by ACT

In the following interactive students will learn about Hooke's Law. They will explain this law using graphical representation between deformation and applied force and discuss the three types of deformations such as changes in length, sideways shear and changes in volume. Students will also describe with examples the young's modulus, shear modulus and bulk modulus and determine the change in length given mass, length and radius.
