Deepen the number sense of young mathematicians with this unique ordering exercise. Given a list of the numbers 1, 5, 10, 50, and 100, young learners must determine where the numbers from a second list fit in the sequence. To increase the participation of young learners, consider writing the initial list of numbers on the whiteboard and passing out number cards for students to place on the board in the correct sequence. Repeat this activity with different numbers to get the class comfortable understanding their relative size before introducing them to the vocabulary and symbols used to make direct comparisons.
