A very interesting web page about Vitus Bering's voyages of discovery is offered by a Norwegian. Reproduced are sections from Bering's own journals that were originally published in "National Geographic" magazine. Students should be able to appreciate from this website, completely in English, the manner in which Bering took his role as sailor, Russian Naval Commander and documenter of the new world.
