This instructional activity focuses on the influence party system has on American presidents. Some presidents were willing to do whatever their party said, while others were much more independent. Students will view videos featuring presidents Warren Harding, Jimmy Carter, Andrew Jackson, and Martin Van Buren and determine which presidents were party men, which were independent, and what impact their loyalty (or lack of) had on their presidencies.
