Pbs News Hour Extra: Mental Health and Disasters

Curated by ACT

During and after large disasters such as devastating hurricanes, floods, oil spills that have changed lives, fires, war and other natural and man-made disasters, how does a person cope? How do people deal with severe loss? How do they deal with the on-going stress? Young scholars will learn about how the body reacts and will evaluate and discuss Maslow's Hierarchy of needs that apply to disasters and to situations in their own lives.
