Lesson Plan

Pbs Teachers: Beyond Brown: Recognize & Combat Segregation in u.s. Schools

Curated by ACT

A lesson plan on the continuing problem of school segregation that asks students to identify instances of school segregation today, to determine the reasons behind it, and to develop a plan for combating segregation in today's schools. Designed to accompany the PBS series "Beyond Brown," about Brown v. Topeka Board of Education, the plan recommends in-class viewing of portions from the documentary but may be implemented without the video because the lesson also incorporates many online resources readily available at the "Beyond Brown" Web site.
