Learners study paintings and use their knowledge of story elements to analyze the art. For this art analysis lesson, students review a novel for its elements. Learners study the image At the Moulin Rouge: The Dance and discuss the story elements for the painting. Students do the same for two other images: Courtier on Horseback and The Ballet Class. Learners then write a narrative essay about two people from the paintings.
