Master Jane Austen's language from A to Z with an activity based on Pride and Prejudice. As kids read the novel, they find (or are assigned) words that begin with each letter of the alphabet, and create one-page documents that show the definition, a paragraph about its context, and an illustration.

Instructional Ideas
- For older or more advanced learners, have them do all 26 letters of the alphabet themselves, and possibly compile the best letter page from each learner into a class book
- Use the lesson as an opportunity to draft an electronic document on a computer lab day
- Have kids include the passage in the book from which they found the word
Classroom Considerations
- Examples are very small and hard to see
Pros
- A fun, collaborative project
- Great way to familiarize kids with the vocabulary from Jane Austen's time period
Cons
- None
