Teaching your primary learners how to ask questions? Then look no further. This activity introduces the six essential question words: who, what, where, when, why, and how. Children begin by practicing how to write these words, before using them to complete six fill-in-the-blank sentences, adding a question mark to the end of each. The sentences are short, simple, and clearly designed for specific words, minimizing the chance for mistakes. Be sure to remind learners that the first word of a sentence gets a capital letter, as this comes up on the activity. As an extension, allow young writers to create and ask their peers questions of their own. A very simple, yet effective, resource for teaching this fundamental concept.
