Through inquiry, experimentation, and observation, young scientists see how an increase in rainfall under climate change can affect the water table and soil salinity underground. Young scientists build models that represent the difference in soil salinity when trees are present versus when they are not using trays, sandy loam, salt and a watering can. They make observations as they conduct their experiment, then they answer the five questions included at the bottom of this resource.
