In this journal article, the authors sought to determine the relationship between theory from teacher training programs and actual reality of what happens in an instructional setting with new teachers. The researchers concluded that teacher training in colleges should be a starting point, and that when teachers and university faculty work together, teacher training can be re-envisioned. Further, it was found that new teachers who have specialized reading training tend to have their students out-perform new teachers who have not been trained in reading. [Requires Adobe Reader.]
