Second graders practice reading a selection a number of times in order to increase their reading fluency and comprehension. They listen to a teacher demonstration of both non-fluent and fluent reading to determine the difference. Working with a partner, they read Anne Rockwell's, "100 School Days" while their partner times them and records the number of words they read. They read a selection to the teacher for an assessment.
