Approach geometry concepts with youngsters using visual guides like this one to find area. They draw a rectangle, segmenting it into rows and columns. Scholars determine how many square units they see in the partitioned rectangle. They do this for another rectangle with different numbers of rows and columns and finally, examine an already segmented rectangle to determine the number of square units. Consider doing these three in the opposite order, as they seem to move in decreasing complexity.
