There are many words that begin with the /o/ sound; scholars study this letter in multiple contexts including intial phoneme examples, pronunciation, and letter recognition. Write the letter on the board to see if learners can identify it. Then, make the /o/ sound using these tips to explain what you are doing physically. As they try this on their own, brainstorm words that begin with this sound. Finally, play a fast-thinking letter recognition game, pointing to letters one at a time. If you point to an o, they make its sound. For any other letter, they stay silent. The pronunciation guide isn't worth your time but the letter cards may be helpful.
