Here is a poetry lesson that begins with a free-association activity focused on the word voice. Learners each sit alone for a moment and make sounds that express how they are currently feeling, and then turn to their partners to share their sounds. The listener writes a description of the sound he has heard, the final descriptions and sounds are shared with the class. Finally in groups of three, the children choose and analyze one poem from the included list, their thoughts are shared with the group. The list of poems is hyperlinked and can be printed for the class.
