Shapes are everywhere in the world around us, from rectangular doors to the circular wheels of a car. The second lesson in this series opens the eyes of young mathematicians to this wonderful world of shapes as they search the classroom, playground, or other locations around the school for common geometric figures. Each time a shape is found, learners draw a picture of the object and label the shape it represents. This simple activity provides an excellent opportunity for children to practice identifying shapes in a fun and meaningful context.
