Cancerous tissues contain more water than normal tissue, which causes the cancerous tissue to resonate longer on the screen and be seen. High school learners can see how MRIs detect tumors in someone's head. Radio transmitters emit their location, showing areas where they clump together (tumor). Teachers can manipulate power, frequency, radio wave source, main magnetic field, and other characteristics.

Instructional Ideas
- Project to the class and discuss both tabs (simplified NMR and simplified MRI)
Classroom Considerations
- Teachers create a free account and gain access to tips, activities, and lessons tied to this simulation
- Assumes scholars understand radio transmitters, the nuclei of atoms, photons, and spin up/spin down
Pros
- Setup includes a number of different languages
- Views include both with a tumor and without to see the difference (on MRI tab)
- Short, easy simulation holds students' attention
Cons
- None
