This Sounds of Selection lesson plan also includes:
Do you want a creative and fun way to teach about natural selection? Hop to it by turning your middle school princes and princesses into frogs trying to catch as many bugs as possible in a Hungry Hungry Hippos style game. For high schoolers, there is a different game in which they use a deck of cards and go through four generations of breeding in an attempt to come up with the most efffective breeding strategies. There are many other activities that go along with these lessons, including an anticipatory set and some excellent analysis questions. There is quite a bit of preparation for the middle school game, but once you have it set up, you can easily reuse the materials. While the activity was developed with Michigan standards and fauna, it would work well anywhere, and you could adapt it to include your own local animal populations.
