Instructional Ideas
- Invite the school counselor to take part in the lesson or to serve as an observer
- Have pairs share a strength statement and have their partner offer a suggestions for a strength they see in their partner
Classroom Considerations
- The 60-70 minute lesson can be presented over two days
- The first in a series of two related resources
- Requires extra prep time to collect a 10X10 tarp, lyrics to a popular song, masking tape, etc.
Pros
- The Personal Strength Statements list things that might not at first come to mind as strenghts
Cons
Little scaffolding is provided for the tarp activity; therefore, remind participants that to be successful, they will have to cooperate and employ their personal strengths
