Tangent

In this tangent instructional activity, 10th graders solve 10 different problems that include various tangent lines. They find the value of x using the tangent of each given angle of various triangles illustrated. Then, students identify and define the tangent as the ratio of the side lengths opposite to the angle and adjacent the angle.
