Instructional Ideas
  • Divide the class into six groups, asking each group to prepare a presentation that distinguishes between one of the six pairs of words (i.e., prejudice and discrimination, collaborators and bystanders, armed and spiritual resistance, direct and assumed orders, concentration camps and killing centers, and guilt and responsibility)
Classroom Considerations
  • Preview all the materials in the packet, particularly the images, some of which are very graphic and disturbing
  • Follows the guidelines established by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM)
  • Designed as a shorter unit where time constraints are a factor
  • Establish a protocol for the safe, respectful discussion of sensitive issues
