Chapter 20 of a report on the energy industry in Texas. It looks at power generated from the ocean, its history, and uses. This is a source that has been minimally developed in Texas and is unlikely to develop in the near future. It describes the ways energy can be produced from the ocean, including wave energy, tidal power, and thermal energy conversion. The availability of ocean power is explained, as well as costs and benefits, and environmental implications. The technology to harness ocean energy is still very new and up until recently, there have not been many government incentives to invest in it. This may be changing.
