Describes the policy of Mirabeau B. Lamar of expelling and attacking the native tribes in order to remove them from the Republic of Texas. While this was relatively easy to implement with some of the tribes, the Comanches were a different challenge entirely. A meeting was arranged for March of 1840 in San Antonio to negotiate a treaty, with both sides distrusting the other. The meeting ended in violence, and led to the Great Comanche Raid of 1840 later that year.
