While reading Arthur Miller's The Crucible, start or end each day with a journal activity. The project includes a list of prompts for each act of the play. Pupils choose a prompt every time they write and connect their own experiences to events in The Crucible. With journaling, your class can respond to literature every day and connect text to self. At the end of the unit, have individuals type up several of their entries and turn them in as a collection for a more formal grade.
