Describes how Baghdad grew into a place of scholarship during the Golden Age of Islam. The Caliph, Abdullah Al Ma'moun, brought many foreign scholars to translate books by renowned thinkers and philosophers for Baghdad's House of Wisdom. Eventually though, the Golden Age came to an end when the Mongols invaded Baghdad, destroying the House of Wisdom and many other places of culture. The Islamic city of Cordoba in Spain is also discussed.
