The Victors: Soldiers of the Great Patriotic War

The work of a team of Russian historians, writers, designers, and programmers, this multimedia project explores the Eastern Front of World War II in great detail. The title of the site reflects the Russian name for the conflict in the east--the "Great Patriotic War"--in which an estimated 27 million Russians lost their lives. Includes first-person accounts of Russian veterans of the war as well as an astonishing array of photographs, video and audio recordings, and historical data and documents.
