Teenage brains are different! Understanding that the teenage brain is still developing and thus more impacted by substance abuse is the key concept in a three-lesson high school health unit. Participants learn about how the brain and body systems react to drugs, as well as the influences and reasons for substance abuse. Scholars use the YRBS Youth Online Tool to collect data and watch videos that detail how various substances impact the body. To end the unit, groups prepare a PSA based on information they have learned.
