This scholarly paper proposes a new attribution theory which is based on the premise that forming an attribution means providing an explanation of something, particularly of behavior. The author first looks at classic attribution theory, and explains the criteria a new theory must meet. He then describes in detail the theory of behavior explanations that is being proposed, and his team's research and conclusions.
