This collection of five middle school math lessons covers the topic of plane geometry, specifically the concept of slope. The first lesson introduces students to plotting points on a Cartesian grid using a Geoboard. Lesson two moves them to graphing lines. Lesson three introduces how to determine the slope and y-intercept of a line. Next, students learn how to determine the slope using coordinate points. The final lesson focuses on parallel and intersecting lines in relation to slope. Also included are questions for an open book quiz, along with tips for classroom management while teaching specific lessons. Saskatchewan teachers will also be pleased to have the provincial standards being covered listed.
