A lunch-time activity encourages pupils to step out of their usual lunch bunch and connect with someone new. To begin, individuals examine a group photograph and identify what they believe is the gender, race, religion, and sexual orientation of each of the young people in the picture. They then discuss their responses in groups, craft a caption for the photo, and share their work with the rest of the class. To conclude, class members commit to cross social borders and reach out to someone new at lunch.
