Word problems and the strategies to solve them are the focus of this learning exercise. Students are given 3 word problems and are prompted to write out their plan for solving each problem. The fourth problem tells students to write out his or her own problem based on basic information, and to have a classmate solve the problem. This learning exercise would be a good addition to either a test-taking lesson or a math lesson involving word problems.
