Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Instructional Ideas
  • Find images of objects comparisons measured in nanometers
  • Spend some time reviewing the proper way to measure objects
  • To eliminate the approximate conversions between inches and centimeters, begin with metric measures
Classroom Considerations
  • To be sure groups understand the directions, ask for the measurements of the objects not calculations
  • The activity is the second in a series of six
Pros
  • The worksheet is available in PDF and doc formats
  • The handout has a conversion table for units that may be useful in making conversions
Cons
  • The background information on the worksheet omits the units for the distance between Saturn and the Sun, making it seem like it is determined in nanometers
