John Glover (1732-97) had this simple frame house built in 1762, and occupied until 1782. Glover, a wealthy Marblehead merchant, was an important military figure in the American Revolutionary War, leading the Marblehead Regiment early in the war as well as leading early efforts to establish the Continental Navy.
