The lives of middle-class Victorian women were circumscribed by strict standards that governed all aspects of behavior. To gain a better understanding of the Victorian Ideals for women, class members research the life of a middle-class woman from this period and compare her life to the life of Lucretia Garfield, also a middle-class woman, and the wife of President James A. Garfield. Researchers then produce a presentation that examines similarities and differences in the lives of women in the Victorian era.
