Lesson Plan

Writing Fix: An Orginal Compare/contrast Lesson: The Most Memorable Teacher

Curated by ACT

Before writing, students should listen to and discuss the writing style of the picture book, Thank You, Mr. Falker by Patricia Polacco. This seven-step, teacher-created instructional activity was inspired by the NNWP's Going Deep with Compare and Contrast Thinking Guide. Mr. Falker won the award for the Most Memorable Teacher award ten years ago. Now it is the students' turn to nominate their teachers as the Most Memorable Teacher. Students will write a business letter to the Board of Education nominating their teacher to be chosen as the Most Memorable Teacher.
